(Events) ACME 2010

A.C.M.E 2010 was held last Saturday, creating an opportunity for like-minded souls to gather and have fun. =)

I was with my crew (some of the WLNF peeps) and we basically spent an hour loitering around and avoiding the Touhou fans.

Sculpture Square, where the event was held, has a really rustic feeling and there was quite a few photo opportunities to exploit. However, Singapore weather is merciless and I could only muster enough energy to take a few quite snaps.

For this post, we have the lovely Aika taking center-stage:

Basically the same pose, but I was trying out different crops. =P More pictures coming soon.

(Events) Rin @ Istana

“The Istana is the official residence and office of the President of Singapore. Meaning “palace” in Malay, it is where the president receives and entertains state guests. The Istana is also the working office of the Prime Minister of Singapore. It is located within a large open compound in the otherwise urbanised setting of the Orchard Road area.” -Wikipedia

The Istana is open to public only on certain days of the year, mainly during public holidays. =)

Photobucket

It was a bright sunny afternoon and shaded spots under ancient trees provided visitors with a comfortable picnic spot.
Photobucket

There were many families around, with parents chilling in the shade while the children braved the sun to play with kites or the likes.

Photobucket

There was a carnival area and a stage area where a whole range of different activities, from performances of the National Day songs to arty farty activities for children to get their hands dirty with.

(Events) Sing a Song…

This year’s NDP 2010 theme song – “Song for Singapore” is by Singer / Songwriter Corrinne May. It’s a lovely song and inspiration for this picture of Rin, looking especially sweet. The pic was taken on the Istana grounds. The sprawling landscape is reminiscent of the parks in Japan (especially the one I had to walk through during Hatsumode) and there was a great vibe in the air. Despite the lost of Rin’s arm (dropped somewhere along the fluffy green turf while I rushed to meet the President), it was quite an experience. Wished I had someone there to share it with.

More pictures later of Singing Rin. For now… have a great 45th birthday, Singapore~!

(Events) Cosfest 2010 (Part 2)

Photobucket

In part 2 of Cosfest 2010, we have Aika-chan.

Photobucket

Aika-chan waited patiently for her turn to be in the limelight as she sat poised with her Neko-mimi hat.

Photobucket

And when it was time for her to shine, Aika-chan embraced the chance.

Photobucket

As she smiled coyly at the camera…

Photobucket

she struck an awesome midair pose!

(No photoshopping the acrylic stand away… the bokeh from my F1.7 lens did that perfectly!)

Photobucket

Perhaps it was Lien’s ice princess demeanor that caused people to shy away, unlike Aika’s sultry personality attracted quite a few admirers who couldn’t resist taking pics for remembrance.

(Events) Cosfest 2010 (Part 1)

Photobucket

Cosfest 2010 is an annual cosplay related event that occurs on our sunny shores every July. This year’s theme is “Let’s Make Friends” and we brought Aika & Lien to meet some friends.

Photobucket

In this post we have the lovely Lien in a casual shirt and cute shorts. She belongs to Neko w Scythe but the clothes are on loan from Aika-chan’s wardrobe.

Photobucket

We were parked for 3/4 of the day at Mc D’s alfresco dining area. It provided us and the girls with a good view of cosplayers streaming in and out of the event venue.

Photobucket

I took the opportunity of exploiting the array of new hand parts for the pureneemo dolls. So far we have seen an iconic ‘nyan-nyan’ pose.

Photobucket

Now for a victory pose.

Photobucket

And I love how natural the right hand looks… placed on her thigh. >:D

Photobucket

Time for some action in the sun!

Photobucket

Jumping high… with the help of a really cheap… but good acrylic stand from Obitsu.

Photobucket

Lien gets to show off a new pair of sneakers… that cost almost as much as a real pair of human sized sneakers.

Photobucket

Time for another costume change.

Photobucket

And here we have Lien in part of her original outfit, also she is using an obitsu doll body rather than the original Pureneemo Azone body.

Photobucket

And then we have a bit of fun with the new ‘friends’ that the girls made.

(Dailybits) Schoolgirl Drossel

With the Android girl Yume in the previous post, it comes as little surprise that I would combine the other bits to make Schoolgirl Drossel! =D

Photobucket

Gotta appreciate how lovely our dear Drossel looks in seifuku. =3

Photobucket

(Dailybits) Android Yume

Poor Nendoroid Yume Asakura has not been getting any attention from me. And this time, she gets some action in the form of an Android?!

I love her =P face!

Photobucket

Now throw in a few sparkles to spice things up!

(Dailybits) Falling Sick

I fell sick recently. Really really sick. I had a cold and a very bad cough. =/ The coughing has since subsided and I am no longer trying to cough out my lungs, but there is still a persistent tickle at the back of my throat that causes me to cough sporadically.

So how exactly did I fall sick?

Culprit #01- Salty, crispy & sinful snacks.

Photobucket

Culprit #02- Terribly sweet and unhealthy desserts.

Photobucket

Thanks to the deadly combination of both culprits, my health took a terrible blow and could barely struggle through my first week at work. =_=”

Photobucket

I tried self-medication and drowned lotsa of water.

Photobucket

I also tried drinking hot soup (from MOS burger!! Very nice!!!).

However, it still took a trip to the doctor before my cough took a turn for the better. =)

(Dailybits) SOY 2010 shenanigans

Photobucket

Been busy with work and a trip out of the country to Taiwan lately (where I picked up some great lootz). So until I work up some enthusiasm to do something with my new toys, here are some photographs from the past that I have been hoarding for a rainy day (literally, because it is really raining today =D).

Featured in this post are my beloved Revoltech figures, with some special cameo appearances from Suzuki-san and more. These pictures were taken during the SOY event at the beginning of this year. =) And it is one of those rare moments where I had a photoshoot under the sun. =P

Photobucket

Here we have the usual suspects lined up, looking absolutely adorable in their respective slots.

Photobucket

Aika-chan joins them for a group shot…

Photobucket

… and falls prey to Toro’s chikan behaviour.

(For more Aika action, check out an older post on her here!)
Photobucket

Thankfully Suzuki-san is around to teach cheeky Toro-chan a lesson.
Photobucket

Kuro-chan debates on whether to help out his friend…

Photobucket

… but gets kidnapped by the lovely Lien-chan before he could do anything.

Photobucket

Kuro finally manages to escape!

Photobucket

But ends up in some weird cosplay thing.

Photobucket

Along with Toro-chan who has become a mecha musume~!!

As the morning goes on… the Revoltech crew gets a chance to enjoy nature…

Photobucket

Suzuki-san helps with some gardening.

Photobucket

Toro & Kuro chilling in the shade.

Photobucket

Jun-kun embraces the sunlight!

Photobucket

And here’s the crew pawing at a lovely BlackBirdFly… a pretty Twin Reflex Lens (TRL) film camera, which belongs to comrade Maverick.

(Dailybits) Toeto

Photobucket

Went to Marina Barrage the other day. Thought it would have been ideal to take the lovely Toeto-tan out for her first shoot. Sadly, the weather was horrid and there wasn’t much light to play with. Thus, I decided to use the pictures I took to try out my hand at some effects in Photoshop, mainly to achieve a ‘lomography’ / film kind of look.

Photobucket

Really wanted to capture a picture of Toeto staring out to sea. Didn’t seem to work out though… and I didn’t want to risk putting Toeto-tan too close of the edge and falling into the ocean. =X

Photobucket

Settled the figure into the grass instead and she looked right at home.

Photobucket

Used my 14-40mm micro 4/3 lens for a bit…

Photobucket

… but still preferred the Pancake lens.
